storm. new york city, south connecticut, and south of boston going to get the biggest snow totals. let me show you what you can expect in the way of snow totals. the pink area is two to five inches, broad brush in pennsylvania. see that maroon spot south of boston, that's where we get the five to ten-inch area. near a foot south of boston locally. it's going to be an interesting one here at the airports. boston and new york included, in heavy delays today. and you have moderate delays back here. detroit, chicago, some cold and some wind going to affect them. los angeles will have rain. so, it doesn't just stop on the east coast. we have travel trouble in other places. but on the roads, anywhere in the pacific northwest could be a little slippery. and certainly, with this storm, again, from ohio all the way to maine. back to bianna. >> a travel nightmare for so many people. ginger, thank you. >>> we're going to turn to the desperate, last-ditch effort to try to keep the country from falling off the fiscal cliff, sending everybody's taxes up and possibly sending the country into another

to turn now to the latest from newtown, connecticut. six more of the victims from friday's massacre will be laid to rest today. as life slowly begins to return to normal for most of the other students in that school district. but in a community still on-edge, another threat kept an elementary school closed. amy robach joins us, now, from newtown. amy, hard to believe this jarring development, happening a week later. >> reporter: it is a difficult situation for everyone here. and we know that the mourning and the funerals continue this week. one of the many reasons why sandy hook students will not be returning to school until after the holidays. in fact, the school superintendent just told me they are planning on january 2nd. that said, newtown public schools are in full swing today. we've seen dozens of school buses driving through town. but those schools are certainly still facing many challenges bringing their students back into the classroom. this morning, parents of sandy hook elementary students say their children will return to school some time in january. relocating to this e

it from around the country. newtown, connecticut, is facing an extremely difficult christmas. but the nation has opened its heart to this town on this holiday. rob nelson has the story. >> reporter: good morning, guys. it's a cruel irony for newtown this christmas. in the midst of this season of giving, a town still reeling from so much lost. residents are finding no shortage of prayer, comfort, and kindness. during this season of giving, the people of newtown, connecticut, have been overwhelmed with love and support for the holidays. >> you do what you can. everybody does a little bit. and it means a whole lot to everybody. >> reporter: the newtown post office has been flooded with gifts, letters, and prayers. incredible sprinkles of love from all over the globe. >> i think i saw brazil, australia. anybody in newtown who needs a hug. it's amazing. >> reporter: at the local town hall, there are mountains of donated toys. and hurricane sandy victims wanted to spread the joy. >> we have had so much help, we wanted to pay it forward. >> reporter: and the people of newtown agree.

gun control. this is all in the wake, of course, of that tragedy in newtown, connecticut. vice president joe biden will be meeting with law enforcement officials today in the first step of a push to end gun violence. the nra is expected to speak out tomorrow in its first news conference since the tragedy. and abc's jake tapper joins us from the white house. with the very latest. you asked the president yesterday in the news conference, where have you been for four years on this issue to eradicate semiautomatic weapons? >> reporter: that's right. then-senator biden had written that ban into law in 1994. but it expired in 2004. the vice president will be meeting with chiefs of police who support reinstating that ban. and the president will be reaching out to lawmakers to try to come up with post-newtown solutions. president obama had promised the citizens of newtown meaningful action. and in a morning press conference, he explained what that meant. an administration focused on preventing future tragedies by focusing on mental health, culture, education, and gun control. >> the fa

bushmaster, the same used in the elementary school massacre in newtown, connecticut. investigators continue to comb through what's left of this webster home. the scene of an ambush attack set by this man, william spengler, that killed two firefighters and injured two others. overnight, news that a body has been found in the rubble of the spengler home, possibly his sister, cheryl spengler, who neighbors say he had a strained relationship. emotions are high, as fellow firefighters face the grim reality of burying their own. >> intended to burn his neighborhood down and tried to put down as many people as possible before stopping. >> reporter: police say spengler fired from a nearby berm or hill, as if he were a military sniper, using a tree as cover. >> spengler had armed himself heavily and immediately started firing upon first responders. essentially, it was a combat mission. >> reporter: he killed firefighters tomasz kaczowka and lieutenant michael chiapperini. before shooting himself, and at his side, a rambling note. >> i need to see how much of a neighborhood i can burn down. and do wh
